It’s certainly good to be back out on the course, even if I was zig-zagging my way around on most of the holes – some things never change! Still, at least the experience of playing a new course and wearing a new golf polo helped to add a bit of colour to the day!
The course, Greenwood Golf Club, is located in the heart of Chon-Buri Province, about 45-minutes drive from Chon-Buri City itself, and about the same distance from Pattaya. By all means, it’s not a well-known golf course in that area but don’t knock it! With some long par 4’s and par 5’s accompanied by the odd dog leg here and there, it certainly keeps one interested to see what’s coming next. This golf course is designed to be similar to a golf course in England. There are 3 courses, 27 holes, divided into 3 types, including neck links, British and American style. I would call it a good all-round mix and whilst it doesn’t have the fancy fountains in the lakes and the swanky clubhouse, for THB1150 – who could complain?!
Back home, you get used to playing regularly at your local golf club. Same pairings, same fairways, same challenges, same cold weather, so there are no surprises along those 18 holes. Therefore, it is not only great fun to take a vacation in a tropical climate, but also it comes with the thrill of playing on completely new and different courses. Thus, it was refreshing to tick off another Thailand golf course off the list, and well, maybe I will visit again soon but there’s plenty more to go in this amazing part of the world.
Along with the experience of playing a new course came the chance to show off my new golf top – a Fenix Xcell golf top of course! There’s something about a new golf top that makes you feel that little bit more motivated and confident about your game. It’s a fantastic feeling and even though reality might set in after a few holes, as it usually does, it still gives you that something extra.
All in all, it’s a joy to be back out on the course and after the past few months. It certainly made me appreciate the experience more and I hope that all you golfers out there feel it too.
