Although many hotels and resorts are either closed or running on a skeleton staff when the tourists eventually do return, it is highly likely that they will need to recruit, when they find out that many of their old staff are unable to return from overseas.

Also, with borders closed, large corporations are finding it very difficult to find suitable workers.

This will mean that when new staff arrive, hotels and factories will quickly require new uniforms for these recruits, starting across all departments.

Adapting to a Covid World

All companies are having to adapt in an unusual Covid World. Therefore, one business in Thailand Fenix XCell, saw an opportunity, and have diverted their staff from supplying clothes for the golf industry to now designing and manufacturing uniforms and face masks for a cross-section of industries, becoming a key player in the uniform supplier market.

Last year Michael Moir, the CEO of Fenix XCell, the international golf apparel company, received a massive contract to design and supply uniforms for a large Thai logistics company.

The owner of this company WCA, happened to be a keen golfer and was already a fan of Fenix. Fenix XCell not only created and delivered over 1,500 shirts, but they also ended up delivery caps, uniforms and bags as well.

Mike Moir said,” Up to then, WCA had been sourcing various items from different suppliers. This took up a lot of staff time, and often the deliveries were slow and the quality was also substandard as well.

I soon realised that by utilizing our designers and manufacturing expertise, clients could source everything they needed, and by making just one phone call. Also, the high-quality materials we use for our golf shirts are designed specifically for the hot Asian climate. Plus, they can stand regular washing, are odour-free, and will still retaining their shape. “

By designing, sourcing and manufacturing in Thailand, Bangkok based Fenix XCell were able to be both competitive and reliable.

Since that first order, Fenix’s custom-made division has been very busy taking orders for shirts, trousers, dresses, caps, belts and bags, from a cross-section of local and international companies.

Their uniforms and products are ideal for banks, hotels, property developers, the oil industry, airlines, the motor trade, manufacturers, and sales teams.

Custom clients already include Standard Chartered, Thai Airways, Amari, Ricoh, Singha, Thai Country Club and The Tourism Authority of Thailand.

‘If you run a business with a large number of staff, especially hotels and resorts whose staff have to interact directly with the public, then you naturally want them to be presentable all year round. With our materials and sublimation printing, we can create a well-designed dress, shirt or trousers, at a reasonable price and that will still look presentable 365 days a year,” explained Moir.

They are currently in the process of designing uniforms for over 600 staff at a leading golf club, including chefs’ outfits, dresses for the reception staff, one-piece uniforms for the caddies, trouser suits for the restaurant teams and hard-wearing outfits for the maintenance department.

The collection includes a unique pattern in house colours, along with the corporate logo. They even supplied a Facemask with the club’s logo!

Fenix XCell still designs their popular golf collections, that are sold by all the top golf courses all over the world, and they support a number of professional golfers, including Australian Scott Hend and Thai superstar Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
